to see all people

raised to life in christ

That is our vision at Encounter Church.

The four things we use to focus our attention in pursuit of that vision is called Our Core:

Passionate Adoration

Perpetual Prayer

Practical Learning

Persistent Witnessing

what we believe

THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant  Word of God.

THE TRINITY

God has existed eternally as one substance in three persons: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

THE FATHER

God is the all-powerful Creator and guides the world to the end He has planned.  He is both just and loving, wrathful yet               compassionate.  He is faithful to His people and His promises.

THE SON

Jesus Christ is at the same time completely human and completely God.  He lived a perfect life, paid the penalty for sin                 through His death on the cross, and defeated death through His resurrection.  Through Him people are raised to life!

THE HOLY SPIRIT

Those who are raised to life in Christ experience the presence of the Holy Spirit.  He guides, convicts, and reveals.  He                   comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

MAN

Man is made in the image of God and was created to have fellowship with God, but became separated in that relationship             through sinful disobedience.  Only through Jesus can man attain a right relationship with God.  Every human is uniquely               created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

SALVATION

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin.  Salvation             occurs when people  place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.  Salvation             is a gift from God and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

VICTORIOUS END

Jesus will return in victory for His children.  He will judge every person and complete the Father's plan of redemption that             was put into action in response to our sin.  He will make all things new!

ETERNITY

Man was created to exist forever.  He will exist eternally either separated from God by sin, or in union with God through                 forgiveness and salvation.  To be eternally separated from God is Hell.  To be eternally in union with Him is life in Heaven.             Both Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

THE CHURCH

The Church is the community of believers throughout history, unified through faith in Christ.  We are committed to the                   teachings of Christ, to obeying all of His commands, and to bringing the Gospel to this world.  The Church works together             in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

BELIEVER'S BAPTISM

Baptism is a symbolic act to publicly profess one's salvation and to identify oneself with God's people.  God commands it,             but our salvation does not rely upon it.  We practice full immersion baptism, symbolizing the process of death and                         resurrection that Jesus went through for us.

PRAYER & FASTING

Prayer is our ability to communicate with God.  Through Jesus' salvation, we no longer need an intercessor to go between           God and us; we can address Him directly.  Through occasional times of fasting, we further discipline ourselves to hear                   God's voice.
